Krohn Conservatory
Eden Park
Cincinnati, OH
The Krohn Conservatory is a nationally recognized conservatory that showcases more than 3,500 plant species from around the world. The building that houses the conservatory was built in 1933 in Eden Park and reflects the Art Deco architecture style, which was the dominant style at the time. The conservatory was originally known only as the Eden Park Greenhouse but was renamed in 1937 in honor of Irwin M. Krohn, who served as the Board of Park Commissioner from 1912 to 1948.
The land in the park used to belong to Nicholas Longworth and he called it his Garden of Eden. Permanent exhibits include a rainforest waterfall and exotic plants in the Palm, Tropical, Desert, and Orchid houses. The Park also hosts seasonal exhibits, including the ever-popular Butterfly Show in the spring. In this show thousands of butterflies are free to fly throughout the exhibit room in a specially themed garden.
