Vietnam Moving Wall Memorial
Evendale, OH
August 2017
"The Moving Wall" is a memorial to honor those who died serving in the Vietnam War. The memorial is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC that has been designed to tour the country.
When John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, he felt the positive power of "The Wall". He committed himself to sharing that experience with those who did not have the opportunity to go to Washington. He partnered with Norris Shears, Gerry Haver, and other Vietnam veterans to build The Moving Wall. It went on display for the first time in Tyler, Texas in October 1984. Two copies of The Moving Wall now travel the USA from April through November, spending about a week at each site.
The Moving Wall was brought to Evendale, OH in August 2017 by the UAW Local 863 chapter.
